Spring to Summer of 2017. Four months of correspondence with a pen pal in South Korea. My sunrise was her sunset, and became a cosmic reminder that we lived in different hemispheres.
Although we've technically known each other for six years at that point and we didn't end our correspondence until Winter of 2018, it was during those four months that we pushed the limits of a friendship's elasticity. We explored every inch of the male-female dynamic, yet we never strayed away from the purity of our relationship. We redefined the term correspondence.
We never met and most likely never will, but we met each other 3,482 times in our shared dreamscape.
No one has ever experienced a sunrise and a sunset simultaneously. But I swear, at one point in time, we froze the tiger-orange sun in the sky, and the day neither began nor ended.
